In the simulated environment, most of the sensation of motion is provided by visual cueing.
However the level of immersion can be dramatically improved by even modest stimulation of the inner ear. It is no longer necessary to employ large and hazardous 6-axis hydraulic platforms to convince the trainee of the authenticity of the environment.
